Day 8 – May 26, 2024 – Sedona, AZ
We decided to go back to Thunder Mountain and do some of the other trails we had not done. We did the lower portion of Thunder Mountain and picked up the Andante trailhead to the Teacup and the Sugarloaf Summit and the Sugarloaf Loop and back around the upper portion of the Thunder Mountain loop. It was about 5. 28 miles today and the weather was great! We didn’t have as much of a breeze today as we did yesterday, so it did feel hotter.
We headed back to the house, cleaned up and headed into Cottonwood, which is about 15 miles from Sedona. We grabbed some pizza at Bocce, then headed back to Bodega Pierce for a quick glass of wine before heading back to Sedona. Made a quick stop at the local WalMart, which was interesting, and came back to the house. John grilled salmon and we had rice and green beans as well.
We left the house about 8 p.m. to head to the Sedona Stargazing Tour. It was led by a retired astrology professor and his assistant. He gave detailed information about certain aspects of astrology and pointed out some of the constellations with a high-powered laser. Using specialized telescopes, we were able to see star clusters, a galaxy, and a double star. We saw the International Space Station fly over, a few meteors and some satellites. It was interesting, but we both felt it was lacking for the price we paid. It was great seeing so many stars without lights around. We made it home about 10:45 p.m. and called it a night.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a down day, but knowing John, that won’t happen, lol! Nite all!
