Day 5 – June 24, 2024 – Torshavn (Faroe Islands), Denmark

We had no excursion planned today so we took our time this morning, did a quick work out and then headed into the town to look around. It was after 1:30 p.m. when we disembarked, so we went out in search of food.

We found a place called Kafe Kaspar where we had a beer and I had a pork sandwich, which is on a toasted bagel, and John had a burger. Cute place and the food was decent. We did some walking around afterwards and then went up to the lighthouse and fort that is right near the port. The fort was built in the 1630s due to raids by Turk pirates to safeguard the Royal Trade Monopoly on Tinganes. The fort has four brass guns from the 17th & 18th centuries and two large guns which were mounted there during WW2 when the fort was the headquarters for the British forces in the Faroes. On the walk up to the fort, we noticed all these flying bugs all over and were trying to avoid them, which was impossible. I was just making sure my mouth was closed so none would fly in, lol!

We headed back to the boat, cleaned up, did some laundry, then met the parents for happy hour before dinner. Again, we were at the Compass Rose and the food was very good. John and I had a nightcap at the Connoisseur’s Lounge then turned in for the evening.

Tomorrow, we have an excursion at Kirkwall (Orkney Islands), Scotland.  We also have a mandatory immigration inspection that the UK is requiring. We were told it would go quickly so that we can be tendered out for our tour on time; we shall see! Nite all 😊

Another beautiful day!
Another grass roof house tucked in between buildings.
