Day 22 – January 16, 2026
Foz do Iguaçu, Argentina → Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
It was another early start today—we were up at 6:15 am, packed up, and ready to go when Eduardo picked us up at 8 am.
Our morning was spent visiting the Brazilian side of Iguazú Falls, which offers a completely different experience from the Argentine side. Here, you get sweeping panoramic views of the entire falls, and it’s incredible to see just how vast and powerful the system really is.
The day got even better when Catherine remembered seeing helicopters flying over the falls the day before and asked Eduardo if it was something we could do. He worked his magic and made it happen. We were driven to the helipad, and before we knew it, we were in the air.
John snagged the front seat next to the pilot, while Catherine, Scott, and I sat behind along with another couple. The 10-minute helicopter flight over the Brazilian side of the falls was absolutely breathtaking. Seeing the falls from above gave us an entirely new appreciation for their scale, and we managed to get some great photos. It was such a fun—and unforgettable—addition to our Iguazú experience.
Afterward, Eduardo took us to the airport and even walked in with us to make sure we were all set. He truly was an excellent guide, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.
At the airport, we grabbed a bite to eat (and a glass of wine—why not?) before boarding our 4:30 pm flight to Rio de Janeiro. We flew GOL Airlines and landed around 6:15 pm. Naturally, our luggage was the last to come out, but we eventually collected it and met our arranged transportation to the Windsor Hotel.
Once there, we were reunited with Joe and Marguerite, dropped our bags, and headed straight to the rooftop bar for drinks. It felt so good to all be together again, and we’re really looking forward to spending the next few days exploring Rio together.
After that, it was off to the shower and then bed—tomorrow brings a full day of sightseeing in Rio de Janeiro, and we’re excited to see what the city has in store! 🌴🌊✨
