Day 17 – July 6, 2024 – London, England
John and I were up early and had breakfast in the dining room at the RAF Club. There used to be a strict dress code, but as it was Saturday, they are more lenient. We were to meet Catherine and Scott at noon at the Guards Bar and Lounge at the Old War Office, near White Hall, which is now a VERY EXPENSIVE hotel!
Being typical London weather, it was chilly and damp, and John made the mistake of not wearing a coat, which he soon regretted, lol! We had crappy weather on the ship, and it seemed to be following us to London; oh well, you make the best of it. After drinks, we walked along the Thames, the Borough Market, had a quick bite of bao buns at Borough Yards, we went up to the top of The Shard (87 floor skyscraper) though we only went to the 72nd floor, stopped in at the Horniman Pub (which is at Hay’s Galleria), then across the Tower Bridge heading towards the Sky Garden. We had dinner reservations at the Sky Garden which is at the top of what they call Walkie Talkie building.
After dinner we headed to the tube for a quick ride back to the club. It was a late night (11:30 pm before we got in) so we were ready for bed. We will meet up with Catherine and Scott again tomorrow for a few hours before we head to the AC/DC concert at Wembley Stadium. Super excited! Nite all 😊
