Day 4 – December 29, 2025
At Sea
(Day 2 on the ship)
Today was our first full day aboard the ship—and a relaxing day at sea as we cruised along the Argentine coast on our way to Puerto Madryn.
We started the morning slowly with coffee in the room before heading to Compass Rose for breakfast. There, we met up with Catherine and Scott and talked through the day’s plans. The three of them were headed to a presentation titled “Where Are We Going? What Will We See?” led by one of the Antarctic guest speakers, while I had a much-anticipated 10:00 am manicure on my schedule.
My nail technician, Erlinda, is from the Philippines and—fun fact—is the same age as me with four children. She did a fantastic job and has the softest touch. I chose a lighter nail color so chips and nicks won’t show as easily, and I treated myself to a paraffin treatment for the first time. Let me just say… my hands were very happy. 💅
After that, I headed up to the gym and walked on the treadmill for about 30 minutes while John finished his workout. Then it was time for lunch at the Pool Grill. I ordered a Cuban sandwich (it was okay—though I’ve had better) and enjoyed a Stella Artois. John went with a tuna burger and a grilled shrimp and jalapeño brochette, which he really liked.
The afternoon was all about wandering—checking out the shops on board and continuing to get our bearings. We eventually made our way back to the Pool Grill for an Aperol Spritz (or two… lol) before heading back to the room for some downtime. I worked on the blog while John got in a little study time.
In the evening, we met Catherine and Scott in the Observation Lounge for a pre-dinner drink, then headed back to Compass Rose for dinner. John and I both started with shrimp cocktail, followed by red snapper for our main course. For dessert, I splurged on mint chocolate chip ice cream with a port, while John opted for lemon meringue tart—also paired with port. Delicious all around.
We wrapped up the night with a final nightcap back in the Observation Lounge before calling it a day.
Tomorrow brings another day at sea as we continue toward Puerto Madryn—and we are absolutely loving this ship and everything it has to offer. 🚢✨
