Day 55 – July 13, 2025 – Dublin, Ireland
We were both able to sleep a little better and it was cooler so we could close the window and close the curtains.
We shared a huge breakfast and then walked about 35 minutes to the bike shop located just outside Phoenix Park. We got E-bikes and then road around for about 2 ½ hours. It was weird riding on the left side of the road, but they at least had bike lanes. You can’t ride in the park, but you can ride along the outskirts of it, and it was a nice day, so we really enjoyed it.
After the ride, we started walking back towards the hotel and stopped in for a beer at The Brazen Head, which boasts of being the oldest pub in Ireland, dating back to 1198. The current building dates back to the 18th century, but it stands on the original site of the medieval tavern.
We went looking for a good lunch and found a place that does a Sunday roast at the Legal Eagle. It was half a roasted chicken with carrots, potatoes, parsnips, cabbage and Yorkshire pudding and it was delicious!!!!
We headed back to the room for a bit then met downstairs to play some cards for a while before dinner at the Boss Stop. We went out of the norm and had Chinese just for a change. John and I had egg rolls and fried rice with chicken, pork, and shrimp which was really good.
For dessert, we headed back to The Port House and had a glass of port and a cinnamon crème brulee.
We walked back to the hotel and started packing stuff up as we head out tomorrow for Kinsale. I must say, I saw Dublin and I have no desire to come back. I could not believe how dirty downtown is and how crowded and noisy it is. Definitely not our style. If we ever did come back again, we’d definitely stay on the other side of the river where it is quieter. Ready for the next stop!
