Day 40 – June 28, 2025 – Foiano, Italy

Today was a chill day and it was great! We all walked into town and had our coffees and then headed back to the villa. We got laundry started, John was getting caught up on some work, and I worked on the blog.

Most of the day was spent in the pool, which was nice. We had done a lot of running around, it was wonderful to just hang out at the pool and be on no time schedule at all. We had lunch outside as we have been trying to eat down the food we have in the fridge, and there’s a lot, lol!

Lorenzo asked us if we wanted to go on a bike ride around Lake Trasimeno tomorrow morning and we originally agreed, but once we found out a bit more information, like it would be a 4-hour ride, we decided against it. It has been so hot, and I knew I didn’t want to be out in the sun for 4 hours straight.

Lorenzo and Fiorella are making pizza tonight, though I know there will be more food than that, just not sure what. Lorenzo fired up the pizza oven about 7:30 pm and Fiorella made crostini with chicken liver, bruschetta, and one with mushrooms. All were very good! Of course she made enough to feed an army, but we have figured out that’s what they do. The toppings for our pizzas consisted of artichokes, mozzarella, prosciutto, zucchini, eggplant and roasted red peppers, along with her homemade sauce . She had 12 balls of dough, so we ended up with 12 pizzas!!! I couldn’t even get through one and so we had leftovers, imagine that! The dessert was then brought out, which was a tiramisu, and it was delicious!

After cleaning up, we played a round of Hand and Foot, and the girls won!

Tomorrow, we plan to head to the town, Castiglione del Lago, near Lake Trasimeno just to look around and get out of the house for a bit. Another fun day in Italy – ciao!
