Day 4 – Sunday, March 2, 2025 – Union Island, Grenadines
There were no excursions today as we were able to take the tender to the beach or you could swim off the back of the boat, which is what John and I did for a while. John tried his hand at paddle boarding and finally was able to make it up and stand/paddle for about one minute! I have the proof! We also did a bit of paddling around in one of the kayaks they had available as well. While we were at the marina platform, we heard some of the crew talking that there had been some sort of incident at the beach and I heard the word “defibrillator”, which is not a good sign.
John and I eventually headed to the beach and when we got off the tender Scott flagged us down and told us that there had been a man snorkeling and they think he had a heart attack while under the water and another passenger saw his body floating and got help. Apparently, they worked on him for over 30 minutes, but he didn’t make it. Not what we were expecting to hear! They all took the tender back, and we stayed for a while and swam. We caught the last tender in, met the gang for drinks and talked about what happened, then got cleaned up for dinner.
At 7pm, the captain hosted a champagne toast for those of us that are repeat cruisers, so we all got to have a toast together. We had a great dinner, as usual, and then Scott and Joe had to go change as they were participating in the ship’s “fashion” show. They ask passengers to volunteer to model the line of clothing that Star Clipper makes. Needless to say, the boys were the entertainment for the evening, and I have the video to prove it! In true “us” fashion, we ended up closing the bar down but had a great time.
Tomorrow we will be in St. Georges, Grenada and we have an Eco Trek to Bamboo Falls excursion, which we are looking forward to!
